Hailing from Hackney, East London, pianist Jesse Doniach is quickly emerging as one of the bright young voices in London’s vibrant jazz scene. Inspired to pursue music as a teenager by double bassist Paul Moylan and fueled by an early captivation with the music of Thelonious Monk, Jesse went on to secure a place at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London. Under the mentorship of Liam Noble and Hans Koller, he graduated with first-class honors in 2021. During this period, he spent a year at the Conservatoire de Paris, culminating in the opportunity to perform alongside internationally acclaimed musicians Aaron Parks and Kurt Rosenwinkel following a masterclass series.

At just 25, Jesse has already accumulated a breadth of performing experience, both around the UK and internationally. This includes performing at venues such as the Vortex jazz club, Electric Brixton, Milos Jazz festival in Greece, and most notably the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in 2023. He has performed alongside notable musicians such as: Byron Wallen, Rachel Cohen, Jasmine Myra and Cosmo Pyke. As well as this, Jesse has hosted multiple residencies across London, and has an active relationship with Bluthner Pianos.

Growing up in the vibrant and diverse musical landscape of East London, Jesse’s love of jazz extends to urban music such as grime and garage. He works actively with producers, as well as making music of his own in these soundscapes.

Complimenting this has been his portfolio of teaching roles. This has included 1:1 lessons, running jazz workshops and creative ensembles delivered across various high schools in London.

Jesse is currently recording an EP, to be released in 2024.
